Individualized Aquaculture

Establishes a health record for each fish

BioSort iFarm

BioSort iFarm

BioSort's product, iFarm, is a system in development that will monitor the health, lice and growth for each fish in a pen. Individual fish can be removed, for example infection carriers or lice collectors. Only fish with needs will be treated, enabling a shift from group-based operations to Individualized care.

Biometrics

Fish ID  identification of each individual fish

Health Record

Tracks health development for each fish

Lice

Sea lice detection on the entire fish

Biomass

Tracks growth development or weight loss

Extraction

Removes individual fish, e.g. infection carriers

Data Analysis

Population analysis and feed optimization

About Us

Our mission is to create sensor-based solutions for optimization of fish resources. We want to replace manual inspection and sampling by automated processes and monitoring derived from modern production processes. Our solutions will manage fish on an individual level, creating value and increased sustainability through increased fish welfare and higher production yields.

Experience

BioSort’s team consist of outstanding people with extensive experience within software, computer vision, optics and mechanical product design. The founders of BioSort have a collective experience of over 40 years of product development and technology management from Tomra Systems ASA.

Technology

Machine vision and mechatronics design integrated in challenging environments, is the core competence of BioSort. Our solutions span from embedded AI edge systems and robotic sorting mechanisms, to cloud-based solutions and big data analysis.

History

BioSort was founded in 2010 based on the idea of using machine vision and sorting to separate escaped farmed salmon and wild salmon. In 2015 BioSort refocused its effort towards fish farming and started concept development of iFarm.

Successful test of BioSort fish sorter in cage

BioSort has tested its first sorter prototype in a cage, sorting fish without touching it. The machine will be able to sort and separate individual fish based on specific characteristics of the fish. The goal of sorting is to separate fish that need adapted follow-up, and in that way ensure better fish health.
